Coal reserves broken down by type and quality, measured in tonnes. Coal types are categorized based on carbon content, ranking highest to lowest as: anthracite, bituminous, sub-bituminous then lignite. Coal with the highest carbon content - anthracite and bituminous is typically of higher quality and results in fewer local air pollutants when burned.
