Confirmed tuberculosis cases that are drug-resistant versus drug-susceptible
Some tuberculosis patients have bacteria that can die with the standard antibiotic treatment, rifampicin, while others do not. This shows the number of tuberculosis cases whose bacteria are confirmed to be susceptible to rifampicin, versus those have been confirmed to be drug-resistant. Only a fraction of tuberculosis cases have their bacteria tested to confirm whether they are susceptible or resistant to drugs.
